Bloodsuckers

Many men want to do something special for their loved ones on this special day, but are lacking in ideas. There are many things you can do for your valentine, but there aren't many things that are also entertaining, thoughtful, and well planned. However, there is one thing that fits into these categories perfectly; a love scavenger hunt. This will show your loved one that you care for them so much that you'd go through all this effort just for her.

First, there are some required items to make this scavenger hunt a success. You will need some type of stationary paper that goes with the Valentine's Day theme and also represents yourself. You will also need to obtain some romantic music and rose petals. You will also need to prepare a dinner for two, but what the courses are is completely up to you.

First things first, you will have to think up a course that your loved one will take. You will have to make sure that she won't be able to visit your home or come anywhere close to being able to see you, otherwise the surprise might not be so much of a surprise anymore. Try to make the scavenger hunt at least an hour long, maybe even longer, so that you have time to set up everything at home.

Next, you have to place the stationary notes around. You should make it obvious, but not so obvious that other people can look at it and take it. Then call your loved one and tell them to go to the location of the first note. While your loved one is out looking for the rest of the notes, you can start to prepare your house.

At home, you should start with the cooking, as this is the longest process that's left. The courses are up to you, so I'll skip directly to the rose petals. Spread the rose petals on the table where you're going to be serving food. Spread some on the floor as well and if you have enough rose petals left, you can also make a path of rose petals from the front door to the table. Also, if you have candles, you can also put these on the path.

As soon as your loved one enters the door, turn on the romantic music. She will be so startled as she walks down the rose petal path that she won't have anything to say. This will be the sign that your love scavenger hunt was a complete success.

There are many other events that you can present to your loved one for this holiday, but it all depends on your creativity to make it a success.

A Charlie Brown Valentine

Love fills the air as Valentine's Day approaches--but it's mostly unrequited love for the Peanuts gang, in A Charlie Brown Valentine. The first new Peanuts feature to be created after cartoonist Charles M. Schulz's death in 2000, this 25-minute show looks and sounds like earlier Charlie Brown fare: vividly animated round-faced kids (penned by the king of the uberpopular newspaper comic strip, himself) and a skippy piano score. Chuck still can't attract the little red-headed girl, Peppermint Patty can't sway his affections, and Schroeder ignores Lucy's blatant request for kisses and chocolate. But this story lacks the heart of Charlie Brown's Halloween and Christmas specials, in which characters occasionally step away from their ponderings to skate, dance, or just act like kids. Instead, chronic whining hogs nearly all the action. When Chuck finally dons a tuxedo for his date at the school Valentine's Day dance, the payoff feels too little, too late. (Ages 5 and older) --Liane Thomas
Customer Review: Another great Peanuts dvd
What can you say about Peanuts other than "wonderful". This is a great movie. I love it and my kids love it. Enough said.
Customer Review: One really good and two not so good Peanuts specials
Here's another triple shot of Peanuts on DVD. There are three complete Peanuts specials on this disc and the quality of the three varies greatly. First up is "A Charlie Brown Valentine" from 2002. This is not to be confused with the more entertaining "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" from 1975 which is on another DVD collection. "A Charlie Brown Valentine" was produced after Charles Schulz' death and like most of the latter day Peanuts specials, it's not much to get excited about. It's not really bad, like "The Pied Piper" or "It Was My Best Birthday" though. There's really no story line other than that it's near Valentines day. All of the little "skits" contained in this half hour cartoon are lifted straight from the Peanuts comic strip, a la "The Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show" TV series from the 1980s. Since a lot of the strips that it represents were good, it doesn't fall flat on it's face, but it's still pretty lame compared to the shows from the glory days. I'd give it 2 stars. The second offering on this disc is much, much better, as it was produced during the first decade of Peanuts specials. While it's no "Charlie Brown Christmas" or "Great Pumpkin", this 1973 cartoon, "There's No Time For Love, Charlie Brown" is a keeper. It has a lot of the "classic" Peanuts bits like Marcie calling Peppermint Patty "sir" and a Snoopy segment that includes his "Joe Cool" theme song. Like "A Charlie Brown Valentine" the first several minutes of "No Time For Love" is a lot of gags lifted from the comic pages, this time dealing with school. "No Time For Love" was produced shortly before "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and is of the same quality. I'd give it a strong 4 stars. Up next is a 1981 effort called "Someday You'll Find Her, Charlie Brown". It's an interesting story but isn't executed very well. Like most of the 80s and 90s Peanuts specials this one suffers a lot. The charm of the earlier specials is absent here and the story seems to move rather slowly. In this one, Charlie Brown ends up a loser, whereas in "No Time For Love" he winds up winning, scoring a kiss from Marcie and an "A" on a school paper. Here, Linus steals his dreamgirl. I'd almost give this one 3 stars for effort but it doesn't quite make it, so 2 stars. So that's 2 plus 4 plus 2 divided by 3 equaling a DVD worthy of 2.6 stars. Since I like "There's No Time For Love" so much, I'll bump it up to 3.

Website hosting may not seem the most romantic of topics for gifts, but suggestions for Valentine Ideas and presents that might actually help with the finances must be more welcome than usual in this recession! Web hosting seemed like a minefield to me when I first started out alone to look for the perfect paid business website hosting account for me - bandwidth, traffic success, seo, search engines, different providers offering various different incentives and suggestions - I was overwhelmed! Not only that, but I had seen various warnings on the web to beware of bogus operators offering false promises, cheap packages and 'too good to be true' solutions. Some of their quick, easy 'make thousands of dollars quick' promises seemed to distract at every turn. Researching these reviews and forums as a team however, is encouraging and motivating - and it's fun to be creative and build something together - or - alternatively have a little romantic contest to see who can get the most traffic! Spring seems the optimal time of year to think about finally getting round to organising some website hosting and niches - such as Valentine ideas for creative gifts.

I remember all the confusing hurdles and distractions I had to overcome solo before I eventually found the best, supportive website hosting service and training course for me. It was difficult to pick my way through the forest of offers on my own - it would have been much more fun to share the process! I had firmly made up my mind to start an online business writing and affiliate marketing. I had done my research and needed to find something - and quickly! I wanted to find out more about building a website and I would need to host it somewhere.- the question was 'where was the best place'?

Inundated with bandwidth offers and internet tool packages, I thought about my goals. The first goal had to be that my website builder priority had to be to build a profitable web business around my hobbies and expertise.. The idea of just 'putting up a site' was a bit of a luxury in miy situation.- at least to some degree, in order for me to contribute to the family budget and pay me for my time. One of the first topics I had in mind was Valentine Ideas including romance, gift suggestions and traditions.

The first paid business web hosting packages and reviews I researched talked about the more old-fashioned Web Hosting services like AOL, Yahoo and Interland. They did provide storage space but on a on a disk, albeit with enough bandwidth, and some did offer one or two tools. At first this seemed quick, easy and of course - cheap. But I was worried about how much more it would cost me to get found by search engines - and competing with innumerable other sites - and whether there would be more hidden costs later. I wanted more than just my own personal space on the web - I needed to build a business. I thought 'you get what you pay for.'

My goal was to make my site stand out enough to get found by Google,Yahoo and Msn. I also needed a site that would look professional and be popular and profitable - I needed to build my own free, targeted traffic. in order to call my online business my own. I wanted my web site to drive business. Also. I had valuable experience and tips to share and thought I could use this both to help other online writers and to generate income for myself.

I also needed an expert but affordable web hosting company which would take care of all the technical issues for me, reliably. I didn't want to invest hours of research and writing in pages that were liable to go down.

After scouring the web for reviews and demonstrations I eventually found the perfect web hosting company by word of mouth! Writing buddies I admired were using an affiliate marketing web page builder that was well-established and respected - and they were all renewing. As some had solid profitable sites, this was good enough for me! The customer reviews and review forum looked excellent too.

I ended up with the Web Hosting package I am happily using now - one that provides a well-proved process and a tech-free, complete set of keyword-finding, website-building, hosting and marketing tools. All this in addition to the usual 99.99% of uptime, the high bandwidth allowance and good high storage numbers that the other web hosting services provided. Unfortunately I missed the special 'His N Hers' type of Buy One Site Get Another For $100 promotion that year. This year I have alerted some of my friends about it!

This easy web page maker also offered the crucial extra element - training and tools when I needed them, to help me create a website that would attract curious, keen clients. I had experience and information to convert into income, and thanks to my trusty web hosting service I am building a future, not just a business. In the end I didn't go with the Valentine Ideas topic, but I still think it's a great niche - and a His N Hers website hosting arrangement is still a great idea for support, motivation and fun!

My Funny Valentine

Chet Baker was at the height of his popularity, the epitome of cool jazz, when these tracks were recorded for Pacific Jazz between 1952 and 1954. While Baker could hold his own in bop settings, the emphasis in this collection is squarely on his lyrical approach to ballads, whether singing or playing trumpet, with just a rhythm section or an added string orchestra. His vocals were absolutely distinctive, sung in a high-pitched, even fragile voice seemingly drained of emotion and yet possessing an inherent charm, a detachment that might be both the antithesis of style and its definition, whether it's heard as sensitivity or indifference. The singing is a double of his trumpet playing here, spare and barely present but achieving much through nuance and suggestion. Pianist Russ Freeman is an almost constant partner, supplying deft chords and harmonic daring, amplifying Baker's ideas. Their empathy is especially evident in the beautiful instrumental "Moon Love," but it's just as significant on signature Baker songs such as "My Funny Valentine," "Let's Get Lost," and "Like Someone in Love." --Stuart Broomer
Customer Review: everything worked as promised!
The CD came thru quickly and fortunately wasn't loose in the case. the condition stated was accurate. Now i want you "AMAZON" to listen very carefully. Many of my Amazon CD and DVD purchases come thru rattling around inside their cases! You and these other merchants need to find a way to prevent this from happening. You can count on the Post Office to thoroughly test the case design vs. their handling-FLAWED!!! A recent one had the little center tabs broken off from hard handling. I buy a considerable amount of products from you and you really have to address this. Oh, typically you're not going to because you're so damn successful, but if you don't-watch my purchase volume subside!!! Larry Komberec
Customer Review: Chet Baker - My funny valentine
Not as expected. Expected brilliant saxo solos but was just singing with a really boring and sleeping voice

One of the biggest problems presenters make is giving speeches that are too loose. By loose I mean their content is not tied to anything. Therefore, it is not be memorable or meaningful. As a result, they see audience members shifting uncomfortably in their seats and feel like they are losing them with every word.

The solution is to make sure every major point you make in your speech is tied to an anchor of some sort. An anchor is anything that helps your audience members remember your points. In other words, when they think back to your anchor, they automatically recall the message that accompanies it. When a non-attendee asks your audience members what you talked about, your message will be at the front of their brains.

Here are Four Major Anchors You Can Use to Make Your Speech Stick. They All Begin with "A"

1.Anecdotes (stories)
By far the greatest way to anchor a point is with a story. This is because, in addition to being memorable, stories also evoke emotions that get your audience to not only hear your speech but to feel it too. Surely you still remember the childhood stories such as The Boy Who Cried Wolf or even The Wizard of Oz. When you remember these stories, you immediately recall the messages (lessons) that were attached to them.

2. Activities
Have you ever been in a class or workshop that included an activity? Think back to it. Now see if you can remember the point the activity made. When done well, activities not only act as anchors, they also re-energize your audience in the process.

3. Analogies
I regularly use the old classic metaphor of the crabs in a barrel (pulling each other down as they try to get out) to explain what happens when you hang around negative people. When my audience thinks of the crabs in a barrel, they remember to be careful who they keep close to them. The key here is to compare something your audience knows (or can picture) to something they do not yet understand. There is an old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words but a metaphor is worth a thousand pictures. They are that powerful!

4. Acronyms
In a workshop I gave recently, I used PARTS as a formula for creating captivating content in a speech. These acronyms work well because they have a built-in formula that is easy for your audience to follow. For example, my audience knows after I finish with P, which stands for Phrase, I will move onto the A. Whenever your audience knows your roadmap, your speech becomes tighter to them.

Final thoughts
When your audience thinks back on any of these anchors, they automatically remember the points that are attached. A great way to make sure your speech sticks is to mix these anchors within one speech. I regularly use all 4 of them even in a short 45-minute speech. The idea is to simply move from one anchor to the next. When you use a good mix of anchors, you keep your audience energized and they walk away with your message that they can grasp with ease. Always tie your content to these anchors and you will forever keep your speech tight.

I Like You

A tiny book that expresses the true meaning of friendship.
Customer Review: Perfect for wedding!
I originally found the text from this book while looking for the perfect ceremony readings for my Sept. '08 wedding. We decided the poem was a bit long for a reading--but I really wanted to incorporate it into the ceremony in some way. On an impulse I bought the book days before the wedding (thank you 2-day shipping!) and decided to use it as a guest book though I wasn't sure how that would turn out. The day after the wedding we finally sat down and paged through the book. I discovered that this is one of my most cherished mementos from wedding day. Our family and friends creatively chose from the adorable illustrations images that they could personalize! I have cute comments, loving notes, and funny word bubbles all through the book. Even better, the silver and gold pens we left out were used to decorate the cover and inside pages. I couldn't have asked for a better "gift" from my guests as now I can leave this book out and enjoy it and someday even read it to our children.
Customer Review: One of cutest children's book I have read!
This is a book about friendship that entertains both children and adults. Sweet, creative, and a great way to remind someone that you like them :) I highly recommend this book to all those who are young at heart!

Valentine's Day is one of the busiest days of the year for any florist as flowers have become as ubiquitous on Valentine's Day as hearts and the color red. What better way to show your love and affection for someone than with the gift of fresh flowers? They bring a unique, fragrant beauty to your Valentine's office or home and are a great way to show you care. Or, maybe to say something even more. Many people choose Valentine's Day to share their true feelings about another person and often send the message on the flower's card. So, Valentine's Day flowers have meaning far beyond the floral gifts given the rest of the year.

If you are choosing the gift of flowers for Valentine's Day to tell that special person how you feel, there are several things to think about to help you make the perfect impression on your Valentine. Don't feel pressured or overwhelmed when decided what flowers to choose. There are some great guidelines and traditions associated with the day that will make things easier for you. Some of these are:

- Red. The color red is everywhere on Valentine's Day. This is not a coincidence. Red signifies passionate love. Red roses are a very popular choice this time of year. If you choose flowers that are not red, you can add red accents such as a vase or ribbon to the arrangement or bouquet you decide on.

- Hearts. Love has been represented by hearts for years and hearts make a sweet addition to any floral arrangement. Choose a heart-shaped basket or Valentine's balloon for an added touch.

- Stuffed animals. Teddy bears add fun and whimsy to Valentine's flowers. The soft, plush toys are a touching reminder of the innocence of new love.

- Candy. Add some sweets for your sweet to your Valentine's flowers. Chocolate is a wildly popular Valentine's treat and adding them to the flowers you choose ensure the recipient will be thrilled with your thoughtfulness.

- Delivery. Your Valentine will love receiving their flowers at the office where they will be the envy of all their co-workers. Think of what a bright spot a flower delivery will be on an otherwise typical workday!

If you are not sure what to get your Valentine this year, check with your local or online florist. They will have fabulous suggestions on flowers and candy and other Valentine's-themed gifts. It is the biggest day of the year for them and florists love helping their customers share their love through flowers.

Are you looking for Valentine's Day gifts? I know it's just the end of January but time flies and before you know it the day of love will be upon us. Now how many of you run to Walmart at the last minute looking for Valentines Day gifts? Yeah Yeah I've been guilty of it myself. But it just doesn't feel as good as taking the time to find those really special Valentines Day gifts.

Time! Now that is something we all need more of! I know as a busy wife and mom of four, two of which are toddlers, it is not easy for me to go out and spend a lot of time shopping. I spend my time running down two little boys who want to hide under the clothes racks and make mommy think that some nut burger has kidnapped them! So what is my solution?

I shop online and love it! You can find sales and discounts online just like you can in the stores. Many times stores will have web only deals also. I just think you can find more unique things online too. There is a store online I found where you can have a romantic message sent to your sweetie in a bottle. Now that is a unique idea. I found another place with some really hot lingerie and they have nice sleepwear for men too. You men aren't the only ones who like to see folks dressed up for bed (wink wink)! One of the men's pajama sets has been worn on HBO's Entourage. Or, how about a book for couples to spice up and maintain a healthy relationship?

So, if you're a busy gal like me or a busy guy too, there are some great places on line to find your sweetheart the best Valentine's Day gifts.

The King of Queens - The Complete Series

The hilarity of the Heffernan household entertained viewers for nine whole seasons. The popular sitcom stars Kevin James as Doug Heffernan, a delivery man who lives in Queens with his shopaholic wife Carrie (Leah Remini). The couple's life together is turned upside down when Carrie's eccentric father Arthur (Jerry Stiller SEINFELD) moves in with them taking over Doug's cherished TV room and usurping his sports-watching habits. The unusual family arrangement provides laughs and challenges over the next nine eventful years. The entire series is included here. Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 043396224520 Manufacturer No: 22452
Customer Review: Great Series, Lovely Packaging but no special features?!!
I love this TV show and this particular boxset is one of the nicest I've seen. I would love to give this 5 stars out of 5 but the lack of special features is extremely disappointing for the price. This set has two special features discs with a couple of short behind the scenes featurettes and the usual cast & crew biog type info. There is only one blooper reel which seems ridiculous for such a funny show with such funny actors that ran for 9 seasons.
Customer Review: Hilarious
I love this show. I'm glad it was in a boxed set. It's fantastic.

Are you enjoying your holidays or do you view them as 'something to get through'? You've suffered through family drama, trauma, lack of money, feeling alone, and lack of confidence and a myriad of other emotions which negatively influenced your holidays.

Just think for a moment of the times that you hurriedly wrote lists, shopped, decorated, cooked (your most famous meal) and presented your best self to all of your guests. You went through the holidays in a flurry of activity almost creating whirlwinds all around you!

Imagine what it would be like to embrace this holiday season with the confidence of knowing you are in charge and that you hold the key to creating joyful holidays. This is easier than you think. Take a few minutes daily to visualize the holiday that you desire. See yourself successfully enjoying and completing tasks.

Beginning with the end in mind is most important to ensure coming close to the result you desire. Now let me assure you that you might still have some negativity crop up, but you will know how to handle it by practicing the three steps below.

1. Know your purpose. Nothing will bring you more joy than knowing who you are and why this holiday is important to you. Look within yourself to find the true meaning of the holiday for you then plan your activities around your truth. Write your list. Look around for opportunities to ask for help in completing your tasks. Set your priorities and follow through.

2. Stop worrying. Stop fearing what may or may not happen. Worrying places all of your energy in the future or the past and saps your enjoyment of "this moment." Visualize your holiday, everything about it in perfect order. Now see yourself doing all of the wonderful things to create the joy you desire. Notice how good you feel as your plan unfolds. Take full responsibility for your desired outcome.

3. Expect joy. Plan each holiday activity with the expectation of creating joy. Whenever you're faced with a decision, how to pair wine and dessert, choose the option that brings you closest to joy. Forgive yourself for anything that you might "miss" while planning your activity. It's okay, this is your creation. Find something good in every situation and learn from it.

Appreciate all that you have and all that you've done. Bust through the myth and make your holidays joyful. Each time you do you create freedom and knowing in your life. You are free from having others determine your holidays and life for you.

Feel the inner peace that comes from knowing who you are and the freedom within. Creating this joyful holiday is an unexpected gift that you'll give to yourself, family and friends. The festive air you've created brings joy and happiness to all.

Now, take some time and indulge yourself in reliving those happy moments. File them away one by one. Pull them out as you need them to give you the support and strength to continue living your life of freedom and joy.

"O Christmas tree,oh Christmas tree
How lovely are thy branches.."

But did you ever wonder about the history of the Christmas tree? Like so many Christmas traditions, the Christmas tree begins in Pagan times.

Pagans did not cut down trees to decorate their homes, as they had too much respect for the living trees for that, but they did decorate live trees with bits of metal and candles at winter Solstice. Romans used the trees, decorated with images of Bacchus, for Saturnalia celebrations.

In Northern Europe, Germanic peoples decorated their trees with candles, apples and other fruit in honor of Woden.

For all these people, the tree represented eternal life.

Although Christian usage of the tree began in Germany in the 16th Century, and German immigrants brought the tradition with them to America in the 17th Century, it did not become popular outside Germanic culture until the 1800's.

In Britain, Queen Victoria had seen Christmas trees as a child, since King George III's German queen had brought the tradition with her. Later, after Queen Victoria married her German cousin, Prince Albert, they celebrated Christmas with trees, and their were many pictures in popular magazines of the royal Christmas trees. The custom spread from there, both in England and in America. By the 1850's, there was a Christmas tree in the White House, and the custom was established for good.

Today, in homes that celebrate Christmas, the tree may take many forms, from the huge live tree to the tiny artificial desktop tree, from realistic to fanciful trees of pink, silver, or white. They may be decorated in paper chains and homemade decorations or symphonies of spun glass and crystal. But for everyone, the trees represent the very spirit of the season and hope for returning and renewing life at the end of each year and beginning of the next.

So, as you load on the ornaments this year, give a toast to the tree and the traditions it stands for.
